REPLACING THE SEAL AND THE SEAL SHIELD (continued)

Study the drawings below before installing the Seal and Seal Shield

1. Make sure the Pipe Seal and the Pipe are clean, smooth and free of contamination. Install the Pipe Seal, making sure it is evenly and fully seated.

2. Insert the Teflon™ Seal Shield (tapered edge up) into the ID (Fig. A) of the Pipe Seal starting at one end until the entire Seal Shield is in place. NOTE that, for now, the ends of the Seal Shield will overlap as shown in Fig.B.

3. Take one end of the Seal Shield and spring it toward the center of the Pipe. Disengage the Seal Shield by about 6" to 8" and butt the free end against the other end. This will leave a bulge as shown in Fig. C. Push the bulge away from the center of the Pipe until it "snaps" into place nesting snugly with the Pipe Seal as shown in Fig. D.

4. Re-assemble the valve.
